Friday night football under the lights may still be several weeks away, but the Oakdale Mustangs got a taste of what is to come when the squad hosted seven-on-seven drills on Wednesday evening, July 1. Oakdale welcomed Waterford and Mountain House football teams to The Corral. All three football teams worked on both offense and defensive drills during the two-hour time frame, having each team rotate in and out after approximately 15 plays each on both sides of the ball.
“It went well. Our team looked sharp tonight on both sides of the ball. It’s always a good thing to come out here and get some work in before the season begins,” head coach Trent Merzon said following the session.
Oakdale begins their season with a scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22 when they travel to Tracy High School. The Mustangs kick off their regular season Valley Oak League schedule on Friday night, Sept. 25 at home when they clash with Sierra.
