Oakdale High’s varsity boys cross country team exploded onto the 2011 scene with victories over Ceres and Central Valley in a three-way preseason showdown in Ceres on Thursday, Sept. 1. Erick Padilla finished first overall (18 minutes, 39 seconds) and Mario Jimenez was just behind in second (18 minutes, 54 seconds). Oakdale runners followed with three other sub-21 minute times on the 5,000-meter course.
The varsity boys earn a collective Athlete of the Week nod from The Leader for their efforts.
Oakdale’s varsity boys are off to a hot start, and now are gearing up to tackle the Sierra Invitational on Sept. 10.
