There’s only so many things a prep athlete can do with one swing of the bat. Oakdale High softballer Sarah Peterson showed off the best of those things with a grand slam to score the first four runs of an 8-3 win for the varsity Lady Mustangs over East Union on March 31.
The mammoth shot set the tone for a huge Oakdale win and left Oakdale in prime position in the league standings. Oakdale fell in its following game, but a 10-0 win over Sonora secured Oakdale’s tie with Sierra atop the Valley Oak League at the season’s midway point.
Peterson has displayed a hot bat in key contests all season, but her towering four-RBI home run nabbed an easy selection as The Leader’s Athlete of the Week.
Her continued swings of the bat should be a credit to the program all season.
