Oakdale High senior and track and field star Manny Hernandez didn’t wait long to eclipse new highs in 2012. The talented high jumper soared to a 6 foot, 6.75 inch mark to claim top honors at the Stanislaus County Meet on March 16 at Turlock High.

His leap propelled Oakdale to a surprising fourth place finish among 15 strong local programs. The jump was a new record for the meet and leaves Hernandez in serious contention to go deep into the track and field postseason. Hernandez earns Athlete of the Week recognition from The Leader for his efforts.
