Members of the Oakdale High School girls golf program have enjoyed a memorable 2018 season. The Valley Oak League champions reached the 2018 NorCal Championship in Lodi and finished in the top ten. Coming off the 2018 Masters Championship, Oakdale advanced to the 2018 NorCals at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club on Nov. 5. As a team Oakdale placed ninth overall to end their season.

“This was a wonderful year and the girls deserve all the praise and credit. Each and every one of them worked hard and earned a league title, section title and masters,” said coach Lee McGhee.

Oakdale shot 428 on the day through 18 holes at Woodbridge (+68) and the tournament was won by Dougherty Valley at 390 (+30). The Lady Mustangs had a pair of top 50 finishers on the day; Taylor Stewart (83, +11) finished 43rd and Madison Blanc (84, +12) placed 49th.

“This was a memorable year. All of us are like a family and this season was great for all of us,” said Stewart.

Makayla Christiansen placed 56th overall with a score of 86 (+14). One stroke behind her was Andrea York, (87, +15) who placed 58th. Shealyn Hanrahan turned in an 88 (+16) and finished in 61st. Rounding out the day for the Lady Mustangs was Tori Blanc who placed 66th out of 90 golfers (90, +18).

“I think everyone was pleased with the outcome, certainly nothing to be depressed about. We all played very well and it was a great way to cement our season,” said Stewart.
