First Place Finish For Lady Golfers

The Oakdale High School girl golfers claimed first place at the Sierra Invitational on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Oakdale’s impressive season now consists of 10 wins, including first place finishes in three Valley Oak League tournaments.

On Wednesday morning at Manteca Park, Oakdale shot a team best 421 to earn first place, 40 strokes better than second place Oak Ridge. The Sierra Invitational hosted 13 teams including Valley Oak League foe East Union (fourth overall with a score of 466). Others in the tournament were Heritage, Del Oro, Deer Valley, Modesto, Rocklin, Manteca, Vacaville, Sierra, Merced and El Capitan.

During the 18-hole tournament, Madi Blanc took first overall with her 79 day on the par 72 course. Teammate Taylor Stewart placed second with an 81. Oakdale’s dominance continued when Shealyn Hanrahan placed third by shooting an 83. Placing fifth overall in the tournament was Allie Denning who shot 88. Andrea York placed sixth overall at 90 and one stroke behind her was Tori Blanc, who finished in seventh.

The Lady Mustangs competed in the final Valley Oak League tournament of the regular season on Monday, Oct. 8 following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale wraps up the regular season at the Valley Oak League Championships at Manteca Park Golf Course on Monday, Oct. 15 with tee time scheduled for 11 a.m.

Playoffs begin on Monday, Oct. 22 for the CIF Division III Playoffs and are scheduled to be played at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course in Atwater. The following Monday, Oct. 29, the CIF Masters will be held at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.
