Museum A Team Effort

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Friends of Oakdale Heritage Board, I’d like to thank those who have offered their generous support of our efforts at the Oakdale Museum and Heritage Center this past year: Kim and Lori Contreras of Oak Valley Jewelers for their donation of a lighted display case; Gary and Bonnye Spray of Spray and Sons for their services in procuring flat files and cleaning expertise; Oakdale High School’s S Club for their assistance on our October Workday; the paint crew at Ace Hardware for their help with painting issues; as well as Richard Murdoch and crew for their excellent lawn care throughout the year.

A huge “thank you” to those who sponsored, attended or otherwise assisted in the huge success of our Roaring ‘20s Casino Night for 2012. Because of your efforts, we were able to achieve our goals of preserving the collection.

This year we have made major strides in reorganization by cleaning, painting, and re-purposing rooms. We now have a Library, Archives, Research Center, Collections Workroom, and a new School Room dedicated to all those who have attended Oakdale schools.

The last part of this reorganization will require us to close the Museum during December and January so we may attend to administrative issues such as organizing the filing system, setting up a docent program and self-guided tour. Our goal is an enjoyable and informative visitor experience. Please come visit when we reopen in February to see the changes, and perhaps consider joining our staff of volunteers. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Barbara Torres

President, Friends of Oakdale Heritage
