Wauneta Abbott

Wauneta Abbott, 93, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at home.

She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to Alfred and Esther Wendt. She was one of five children and grew up in the Grand Island area. She was an Oakdale resident for 37 years, since 1973.

After graduation from high school she moved to Washington State and worked in private homes. It was there she met Carlyle Abbott and they were married in 1944. They enjoyed a long marriage until his death in 1989.

Mrs. Abbott was always involved in church activities and was a champion for Christian education and children’s ministries. Her godly life was a witness to all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Jeanie (Steve) Mahaney, Alan Abbott; granddaughter, Dr. Jodi Swanberg (Jeff) Sceville; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Oakdale Seventh-day Adventist Church.
