Most of the contests played by Oakdale and Riverbank girls volleyball and flag football teams this past week were non-league, as the squads prepare for their respective league schedules. Oakdale is in the Valley Oak League while Riverbank is in the Mother Lode League.

OAKDALE

On the volleyball court, Oakdale earned a 3-0 decision over visiting Enochs on Aug. 25 but then lost at Sonora by the same 3-0 score. They got back in the win column as they hosted Patterson in the VOL opener on Aug. 31. They swept the visiting Lady Tigers 25-14, 25-7, 25-16.

In flag football, Oakdale suffered a pair of losses. The girls were shut out 15-0 against Ceres on Aug. 26 and fell to Grace Davis on Aug. 31 by a 35-13 final.

RIVERBANK

The volleyball girls were busy for Riverbank, losing in straight sets to Modesto Christian on Aug. 25, 16-25, 16-25, 22-25. They pushed Waterford to four sets on Aug. 27 but fell 3-1 in scores of 19-25, 25-15, 22-25, 20-25.

Flag football also had a busy week, getting on the gridiron for three contests. They lost to Beyer, 36-6, fell in a hard fought 12-6 decision to Amador on the road and were shut out by Buhach Colony, 40-0 on Aug. 29.
