Are you someone who holds an associate degree or higher or a student working toward a degree and would you like to belong to an organization that works to break through educational and economic barriers so that all girls and women have a fair chance? If so, you are invited to attend The American Association of University Women, Oakdale, Riverbank, Escalon Branch’s (AAUW, ORE) Fall Membership Brunch on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Organization officials note that, by joining AAUW, you will meet dynamic, like-minded people from all walks of life. You will learn exciting things by attending program meetings throughout the year. You can read and discuss moving and stimulating books, enjoy gourmet meals, or go on exciting local adventures by participating in one of their interest groups. Most of all though, by helping to empower women and girls, you will be making a difference in your community.
The Fall Membership meeting is AAUW-ORE’s welcome back from summer break meeting. Featured will be a review of the upcoming year’s meetings and stories of what attending Tech Trek, AAUW’s premier STEM camping experience, this summer meant to several campers from the Class of 2026 as well as two former Trekkers who this summer attended the camp as peer counselors. Zoe Kilkenny, the ORE Branch’s Tech Trek director, shared this about Tech Trek: “It is a program sponsored by AAUW to help girls build confidence in their potential. It was designed to target seventh grade girls, the age at which it has been determined they often start turning away from science and math classes.”
At the conclusion of the morning’s activities a light brunch will be served.
The meeting, open to members, guests and prospective members will be held in a member’s home on Saturday, Sept. 12 starting at 10 a.m.
