CODY JACOB SORENSEN
SORENSEN OBIT pix.jpg

Cody Jacob Sorensen, 25, was born in Modesto, Ca. and lived in Oakdale, Ca. most of his life.

Cody was the kindest person you would ever meet. Old timers said he had an “old soul”. He loved his family, playing with his niece and nephews, riding bulls, working with horses and cattle, riding his Harley, sitting around with family and friends telling stories and making everyone laugh and he loved his border collie Ben as if he were his child. He touched so many lives, more than we all realized.

Cody is preceded in death by his grandfather Jay “Pete” Vinton Sorensen. He is survived by his grandparents Carl and Sandra Wheeler of Oakdale, grandmother Shirley Sorensen of Oakdale, father Eric Sorensen of Oakdale, Mother and Step Father John and Tracy (Wheeler) Fernandes of Angels Camp, brother Justin Sorensen (Shannon Sorensen) of Coalinga, brother Zach Sorensen (Madison Sorensen) of Oakdale, step brother Josh Fernandes (Natasha Fernandes) of Copperopolis, step brother Jonathan Fernandes of Vallecito and step sister Johnnacia Fernandes of Angels Camp, nephews Colton and Ryland Sorensen of Royston, Ga, nephew Jaxsen Sorensen of Oakdale, niece Savannah Sorensen of Oakdale, nephews Slade and Sawyer Sorensen of Coalinga, niece Lilly Fernandes of Copperopolis, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Cody will truly be missed by every person who knew and loved him, every life he touched. He had a way about him that just made you love him and a smile that lit up the room. It broke his heart that he couldn’t ride bulls anymore after his accident at the sales yard, but it never stopped him from taking a young cowboy under his wing, showing him the ropes and loaning him his old gear. He was kind, respectful and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He would give you his last dollar, go out of his way to make you smile and had a tender heart like no other. We are all so proud of the kind, gentle, loving young man he had become. He was taken from us way too soon and has left all of us heart broken and lost. We will love you and miss you every day Cabbage … until we all meet again. We know Papa Pete and so many others we have lost have you and you are safe.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Oakdale Rodeo Grounds on Friday, March 1 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers if you would like to make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the PBR Rider Relief Fund, he would have liked that.
