It is always nice to hear from former Valley Home residents and catch up on their current activities. We were delighted to recently receive a greeting from former Walnut Avenue residents Narcy and Bernie Giva who send a warm “Hello” to all their Valley Home friends and former neighbors.

Valley Home PTC is seeking new officers for the 2011-2012 school year. Come join the group for the April 7th meeting and help them to vote in the new officers. The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. in Mrs. Moore’s classroom. If you are interested in running for office or know of someone who would make a great officer for the club, be sure to have them attend this meeting. This group does a wonderful job of working on interesting and fun fundraising activities to benefit our students. Currently, the group is working on plans for the Annual School Jog-A-Thon fundraiser, one of the highlights of the school year for the students. If you or a family member would be interested in volunteering to help with the event just E-mail the club at vhsptc@yahoo.com and let the group know what area you would like to volunteer for.

The Jog-A-Thon will start at 10:30 on April 21st and all volunteers need to be there by 10:00 to help. Volunteers who are helping with the set-up will be meeting at 8:15 at the Pioneer Ave campus. The beginning of the month will find our students out and about and busy as they start collecting pledges for the event.

Barbeque lunch hosted by the PTC will follow the Jog-A-Thon at 11:30. PTC members invite you to join them for a fun afternoon before adjourning for Spring Break, which begins at 1 p.m. that afternoon.

We have received word of an attempted vehicular burglary at Lone Tree and Henry on March 24th around 11:45 p.m. Apparently the homeowner’s truck alarm sounded and as he ran outside, the burglar slammed the truck door and ran off. The homeowner thought he saw a full sized pickup head north on Henry (north of Lone Tree). Because it was dark, no other description is available.

It is important to share whatever information occurs on the above subject so our Valley Home friends and neighbors will be alert to this type of activity occurring in our community. Please keep us advised of any suspicious activity and we will pass it along to our Valley Home News readers. Please send information to chitons7@gmail.com.
