Busy week for golfers, swimmers, runners and jumpers

As the spring season continues, Mustang squads in several arenas have been piling up the matches and meets. Here is a look at how the golf team, swim team and the track and field squads have fared in recent action.

 

GOLF

It was a productive week for the Oakdale High School boys golf team. On April 15 the team participated in the Turlock Scramble. Hosted by both Turlock and Pitman High School, teams gathered at Turlock Country Club where two Oakdale teams were represented. A dozen Oakdale golfers hit the course for the Mustangs as two teams of six were formed. For the Gold team Nolan Harris, Robert Bordona, Owen Hauselman, Wyatt Hayes, Estuardo Duque and Carson Sundberg. The teams would be divided into two threesomes. Team one of Harris, Bordona and Hauselman shot 66 on the day, resulting in Oakdale Gold taking first place with a total team score of 172. The Red Team consisted of Fred Herschbach, Skyler Mitchell, Easton Thalman, Carter Hauselman, Brody Boysen and Julian Velasquez. The team finished in eighth place out of 22 total teams.

Thursday saw the team host the fourth and final Valley Oak League tournament of the season. The event took place at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Oakdale won the tournament for the fourth time this season. Their total score was 387. Hayes shot an even par 72 through 18 holes. Harris put in a 76 effort. Rounding out the day for Oakdale were Duque (77), Owen Hauselman (80), Bordona (82) and Sundberg (84).

Next up for the Mustangs is the Gary Rovig Invitational hosted by Atwater High school, to be played at The Golf Club at Copper Valley in Copperopolis. The VOL Championships are April 29, to be played at Micke Grove Golf Links.

 

SWIMMING

Thursday, April 19 Oakdale High School welcomed all teams from the Valley Oak League for the 2024 Valley Oak League Championship meet. The Mustang boys took first place and the girls claimed third overall. Here is a glance at how the swimmers did.

Oakdale High School traveled to Manteca to face East Union on Friday, April 19 in track and field action. The Mustangs won the varsity boys event 26-24 and the girls won 45-5.
