Valley Home News 4-3-24

I hope each of you are enjoying good health and having a really great day. It’s so nice to see so many pretty spring flowers blooming all around us. Flowers always bring such beauty and so much hope to our lives.

This week we would like to share a very important community issue. Our Fire Board members have been working tirelessly to re-open our Valley Home fire station doors. Our community is blessed with a beautiful fire station building, a dedicated Fire Board, but still our fire service comes from surrounding fire stations. Without additional funding our community will continue to rely on the surrounding fire stations to cover us in an emergency situation. I know that most of you already know my personal story. It brings a great deal of sadness to my heart … but I believe it is important to share how important precious minutes are in an emergency. None of us are expecting an emergency to happen, especially on a bright sunny spring day. Believe me it can happen. For our family, it happened suddenly on a sunny spring afternoon; my husband of 47 years, devoted father to his precious daughters and a loving papa and grandpa to his grandchildren desperately needed our Fire Department. The doors to our Valley Home station were closed … help had to come from outside of Valley Home. We always thought we would grow old together, enjoy watching our grandchildren grow up together. Our devastating and life-changing Saturday afternoon call was answered by crews that came as fast as they could. Just like most of you I would’ve gladly paid a bit more each year for those lifesaving doors on our Valley Home station to be open. Even though today I live on a very fixed income I am still willing to pay those extra dollars for our family and your family to be protected. I miss my husband Richard every minute of every day. Every minute is precious and can make a life-saving difference. Our families’ lives are at stake. Many of you received a very important survey from our Fire Board in the mail. Please take the time to fill this important survey out and return it. It can save lives. This extremely important survey and flyer includes information for our community that will save lives. For those who may not have received the survey and flyer, please call Board Director Steve Guerrero at 209-569-6205 and share your thoughts with our Fire Board. We desperately need our community to have fire service at our Valley Home station that can immediately answer our emergency calls. For those of you who are able, please come share your thoughts at our Fire Board meeting on Thursday, April 11th. This important meeting is at our Valley Home Fire station and will start at 10am.

We send congratulations to our Valley Home School students on an amazing Jog-a-Thon. A huge “Thank You” to everyone who supported our students!

As I write this, it is Sunday afternoon and I am excited to report our Valley Home student travelers’ plane has just flown over the Potomac River … and within just the last few minutes have landed in Washington DC. What a great blessing this wonderful trip will be for our students. A special “Thank You” to all who made this tremendous learning experience possible.
