Valley Home News For June 17, 2009

This week’s news starts with the report of an incident that happened at the Valley Home School on Sunday, June 7.  At about 2:30 p.m. a young boy was riding his bicycle in the area when a man in a white truck jumped out of the truck and assaulted the boy, shoving him to the ground, and stole his bicycle. The bicycle was put it into the back of the truck and the man drove off.
The assailant was described as having a long beard and a crazy, wild hairstyle. The white truck is thought to be a late 1990s or early 2000 model. The boy was scared badly but received no major injuries. Incidents like this should not be happening and we need to make sure this will not happen again. The first way to accomplish this is to be prepared, talk to others, warn children and if something does happen report it immediately.
The incident was reported to the sheriff’s department and a sergeant has been assigned to investigate the matter.  Lieutenant Gharat will make a presentation at the Wednesday, June 17 meeting of the Valley Home MAC and will tell residents what progress has been achieved in this matter. In addition, he will explain what residents can do to prevent a reoccurrence of this type of incident. Everyone should be interested in what the Lieutenant has to say.  Be there!
