Christina and Ashley Barreto, bring us up to date on the 4-H Fundraiser that was held at Tractor supply on Saturday, November 19th; it was a great success! The group offered lots of wonderful goodies and raised $666.73 for the club. Christina and Ashley would like to thank Oakdale Tractor Supply, everyone who donated items for the sale, the kids and adults that worked and everyone who bought goodies. If you missed the sale, the group is offering another opportunity to purchase goodies at their Christmas Bake Sale at Tractor Supply on Saturday December 17th from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

This past Saturday, the Valley Home 4-H traveled to Escalon to participate in the Escalon Christmas Parade. The members had a great time decorating their float the evening prior to the event at Halley Smith’s house. A big thank you to Ed Barreto for pulling the float for the kids! If perchance you missed seeing our 4-H float in the Escalon Parade, the float will again be seen at Valley Home’s own Lighted Christmas Parade this coming Saturday, December 10th. In addition to the 4-H float, there will be many other wonderful entries to be seen, including the Oakdale Historical Society owned historic Van Pelt 1951 Pumper/Tanker fire engine built in Oakdale. It was on display at the Old Fashioned Christmas event last Friday evening in Oakdale.

Bring your family, friends and neighbors to the old fashioned Christmas celebration and sparkling lighted parade sponsored by our Valley Home 4-H and enjoy viewing the parade as it winds its way through downtown Valley Home. Best viewing will be at the old school on Texas Avenue. Hot chocolate will be served in front of the old school. For comfort, you are reminded to bring your own chair. Nights are chilly so you might want to bring a lap robe too.

Immediately following the parade, everyone is invited to the Valley Home Park where our beautiful Community Christmas Tree will be lit. Hundreds of glittering lights will light up the night sky! Following the tree lighting, the school gym doors will open to welcome everyone to the Annual Community Potluck Dinner. The 4-H is asking for everyone to bring a dish to share. The 4-H will be providing the turkey, ham, plates, cups, silverware and frosty Christmas drinks, along with coffee and hot apple cider to accompany the dinner.

During dinner, “Santa’s Corner” will come alive with Jolly Ol’ Santa and his merry elves spreading Christmas cheer to all! A special treat this year will be beautiful decorated goodies for sale after dinner.
