Valley Home News 4-22-20
Winnie Mullins

A very special thank you to those who made our high school seniors feel so loved this past week! An amazing group of over 30 caring volunteers spent the entire day making sure every senior received a 2020 Senior Yard Sign at their home. The signs are absolutely beautiful! Their vibrant Mustang colors send a message of extreme pride! The signs are a heartfelt tribute to each graduate. A tribute that is full of love, encouragement, hope and dreams to come! It is truly amazing the effect these signs have had on our high school seniors! My grandson, Cody’s sign was placed at the end of our driveway; it stands under a huge willow tree and near the creek where our senior and many of his friends spent many of their childhood days over the years. This old homestead has been a part of many of our 2020 seniors’ lives. As youngsters they played along the creek, taking turns jumping off the wooden bridge, they fished together, although bites were few and far between. Growing up in Valley Home meant going to Tyler’s house at the end of every school year for the best pool party and celebration. For many it also meant mowing and helping out at our little community park. It also meant getting a great education, being respectful to your teachers and all those who make Valley Home such a special place. Leaving Valley Home to go to Oakdale was a big deal. A huge, but exciting change. Entering high school brought new challenges, new events, and many, many new friends! Our 2020 Oakdale High School seniors have worked hard. It is difficult to see them miss this very important time in their lives. We are grateful to Superintendent Marc Malone and ask God to bless and guide him and his staff as they move to distance learning for the remainder of the school year. To our 2020 high school graduates, it seems as if it were yesterday you walked through your 8th grade graduation, time has gone by so fast, never would we have thought this would be how your last months of high school would be. You are strong, you are resilient, you are well-educated and you are ready. May God bless each of you! We are so proud of you, Class of 2020!
