With spring coming very soon our thoughts turn to some very special folks here in Valley Home. We send a community hello to Laura and Glenn Burghardt. Laura wrote the Valley Home News for 38 years! I remember reading her column when spring was near, Laura would describe the rice fields, the clover pastures, the blossoms on the trees and how much she loved the arrival of spring in Valley Home. Today we would like to send a very special “Thank You” to Laura and her devoted husband, Glenn. Many events in Valley Home were made possible because of Laura and Glenn Burghardt. The energy and knowledge that Laura and Glenn brought to every event was absolutely amazing! Our community is definitely a better place because of these two people.

Thursday, March 5th our Valley Home Parent/Teacher Club will be meeting at 3:00 p.m. on the Texas Avenue campus. The meeting will be held in the library. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!

A huge Thank You to our Jog-A-Thon chairperson, Cassie Fullen for her hard work and tremendous enthusiasm! Please mark your calendars for April 9th and come out and support our Valley Home Hawks! I know it seems like a long way off, but it will be here before you know it. The students will be collecting pledges with the students earning the most receiving a great prize!

Our Valley Home students celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with classes participating in a reading celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss. The kids especially love the great “Green Eggs and Ham”. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
