Happy Holidays to each of you! It truly is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I am counting my blessings as this beautiful Christmas season begins. Each year the kids set up and decorate a delightful little country Christmas scene. The fresh cut pine tree will be brought in and the decorating will begin! The boys will be stringing the lights just like their Papa taught them when they were younger. A tradition and now a wonderful memory!

This year, we will start decorating our tree with a most special ornament! Granddaughter Jenna just returned from a visit to the Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile in Pawhuska, OK and brought home a beautiful sparkling ornament for our tree. It will be the first on the tree this year. When Millie and Cooper bring home their handmade school ornaments, they will hang with pride. As it is with all our lives, some days are better than others and we are looking forward to many special days ahead.

On Saturday, Dec 22nd our Community Park will sponsor our annual Community Lighted Parade. All are welcome and encouraged to enter a “safe” and “lighted” parade entry! There are no judges, no entry forms, just bring your entry and meet at the park and school area before 5:30 p.m. The parade Grand Marshal will be announced the middle of December! The Grand Marshal entry will be the first entry in parade. Everyone else should line up behind Grand Marshal entry. The parade will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. The parade will go past the old school and usually circles three times! When done and after parking your entry, please immediately gather at the park for the lighting of our Community Park Christmas tree and singing of Christmas carols. Following the tree lighting and carols the doors will open at the school gym for our annual Community Potluck dinner. This delightful tradition is sponsored our Valley Home 4-Hers. 4-H will provide three baked turkeys and hams for all to enjoy. The 4-Hers will also provide refreshments for all. You are all invited to bring your favorite potluck dish to share. All are welcome! Please join us for this very special evening in Valley Home.
