Oakdale Mayor Cherilyn Bairos and Escalon Mayor Andy Hagan, both center in team photo, took a moment at the Escalon High School varsity football practice on Monday, Sept. 21 for the Mayor’s Cup trophy presentation. Engraved with the 21-14 score from the Sept. 11 game won by Escalon, Mayor Bairos brought the trophy to Escalon, where it will stay for the year. The Escalon Cougars and Oakdale Mustangs have played the Battle of 120 game for four years and the teams are knotted 2-2. Also, the mayors shook hands prior to the trophy presentation but Bairos warned that the Mustangs would get the trophy back next year. Bairos first wore a Cougar T-shirt at the ceremony, then took it off to reveal her red and gold Oakdale shirt underneath.
