Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 7-15-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, July 7 through Monday, July 13. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

MONDAY, JULY 13

Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly apparatus checks and maintenance.

8:17 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to the intersection of Morrill Road and Roselle Avenue for a transit bus on fire. There was a small compartment fire in the engine that was out upon their arrival. E26 provided traffic control until the bus could be moved from the roadway.

Battalion 5: Crews completed Monday checks.

Today was Logan Heimeyer’s badge pinning ceremony. He was joined by family and fellow firefighters. Congratulations to Captain Heimeyer.

Crews continued to train probationary firefighters at Station 17. Today, Engine 9 worked on flowing lines from a ladder and rescuing victims from a second story window.

SUNDAY, JULY 12

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies trained on several disciplines during the shift including supply lines, hoseline stretches, and salvage.

Battalion 5: 5:43 a.m. – OES4615, Brush 28, Water Tender 27, OES4617 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a vegetation fire on Sonora Road in the State Response Area (SRA) east of Oakdale in the early morning hours on July 12. CalFire sent a full response as well. Crews had issues accessing the fire initially due to the terrain. The fire was wind driven to the southeast. The fire was contained in about an hour and burned 201 acres.

11:45 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident on Valley Home Road in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to find the driver out of the vehicle with minor injuries. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

SATURDAY, JULY 11

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 Saturday multi-company drill at a local apartment building included hoseline deployment tactics and commercial fire attack strategy.

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 trained in their respective territories.

12:26 p.m. – OES4615, OES4617, Water Tender 27 and Battalion 5 assisted Cal Fire on a vegetation fire on Highway 108 just east of Knights Ferry. The fire was contained at approximately 35 acres.

FRIDAY, JULY 10

Battalion 2: 1:49 p.m. – Brush 24, Brush 3, OES 4618, Engine 6, Water Tender 6 and Battalion 2 responded to a vegetation fire in the 25000 block of Yosemite Boulevard. The fire ended up in the SRA and a full Cal Fire response also responded. Crews assisted TCU with containment and mop up. The fire was contained at 10 acres.

Battalion 5: Engineer Parker English was promoted and his engineer badge was pinned today by his family at Station 29 in Knights Ferry.

Engine 27, Water Rescue 29 and Battalion 5 responded to the report of a water rescue at Woodward Reservoir in Oakdale. Engine 27 arrived on scene to one subject who was pulled of the water by Sheriff’s Department personnel. The patient denied any injuries or care on scene.

THURSDAY, JULY 9

Battalion 2: 12:55 p.m. – Engine 9, Brush 23, Water Tender 23, Grass 21, Water Tender 21 and Battalion 2 responded to a vegetation fire. Upon arrival there was a quarter of an acre of grass and homeless encampment involved. Crews quickly contained the fire and spent 90 minutes mopping up the incident.

Battalion 5: The crew at Station 29 trained on wildland progressive hoselays and mobile operations.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8

Battalion 5: Crews from Station 29 performed station maintenance and apparatus checks at Station 30.

E27, E28, E29, and BC5 rendezvoused at Station 28 and reviewed the incident planning process. Topics included the use of RECEO and how to interject this acronym into a variety of incidents.

5:05 p.m. – Water Rescue 28 and BC5 responded to Woodward Reservoir for a horse that had drowned. BC5 arrived at the scene and contacted the Sheriff’s office as well as the horse’s owner. The deceased horse had already been retrieved from the water by the Sheriff’s office. No further assistance was needed.

TUESDAY, JULY 7

Battalion 2: Crews attended the third quarter EMS training at the RFTC.

Battalion 5: Crews continued to prepare probationary firefighters for their up-and-coming performance test.

Battalion 5 personnel attended quarterly EMS training at the RFTC.

Crews returned to a large burn pile off River Road and ensured that the fire was completely extinguished.
