Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 6-3-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, May 26 through Monday, June 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

MONDAY, JUNE 1

Battalion 2: The Stanislaus County Op Area Region 4 OES apparatus received a radio update from a Comm tech from Cal OES.

Battalion 5: Crews completed weekly apparatus and equipment maintenance, along with weekly station maintenance.

OES 4615 and 4617 got their radios upgraded with the 2026 State Communications load.

9:03 p.m. – Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to Silvio Way for an EMS CPR call. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the patient in cardiac arrest. CPR was initiated, the Lucas Device attached and ALS care provided from OVHD Medics. After 20 minutes of care, the patient was transported to a local hospital with two Firefighters on board to assist with patient care.

SUNDAY, MAY 31

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies trained with wildland tools and equipment at Modesto Reservoir.

Battalion 5: Boat 29 trained on the Stanislaus River to get a member of their crew signed off as a boat operator in time for the summer season.

Engine 27 trained on rope rescue operations at Station 27.

11:48 a.m. – Engine 29, Engine 26, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 along with mutual aid from Cal Fire TCU, responded to a solo vehicle rollover accident with entrapment on Highway 4 at Dunton Road east of Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene to find a car that had left the roadway and rolled several times. The driver was able to self-extricate with minor injuries; however, the passenger was pinned in the car. The Cal Fire engine from Copperopolis arrived on scene first and freed the passenger using their extrication tools. The passenger was flown by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center, MMC, with moderate to major injuries. The CHP is investigating the crash.

3:19 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 responded to a potential structure fire in the 900 block of East J Street in Oakdale. Upon arrival crews found a large shed in the backyard on fire. Engine 28’s firefighter advanced a hose line to the backyard and extinguished the fire. Stanislaus FIU is investigating the cause.

SATURDAY, MAY 30

Battalion 2: Engine 26 attended the grand opening of the Riverbank Tractor Supply store.

Battalion 5: The crew at Fire Station 28 had a drive-up call where a person stopped by and advised that a cat was stuck in the engine compartment of their vehicle. Engine 28 was able to locate and free the kitten. Oakdale Animal Control came and took the kitten to their facility.

2:09 p.m. – MST units were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 5000 block of Dodds Road for a report of an electrical panel on fire at a dairy. Engine 27, Engine 28 and BC5 arrived to find a panel that shorted out and started burning. The fire was contained to the panel and no cows were harmed.

5:31 p.m. – Engine 9, Engine 27, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a vehicle collision on Claribel Road in Riverbank. Crews arrived to find a two-car crash with one car on its side. One patient was transported with minor injuries.

FRIDAY, MAY 29

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

The crew at Station 29 in Knights Ferry conducted swift water boat training on the Stanislaus River.

Engine 28 conducted pre-fire plan training at Woodward Reservoir in Oakdale for the upcoming fire season. Crews checked access gates, and fire breaks.

THURSDAY, MAY 28

Battalion 2: Crews focused on station maintenance and yard work.

Engine 26 and fire prevention did a firework standby for Riverbank High School’s 2026 graduation ceremony.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

11:30 a.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 responded to potential structure fire at 10 Willowood Drive for smoke inside a residence. Engine 27 arrived on scene to a two-story apartment complex with nothing showing. Upon further investigation crews found an apartment with light smoke due to a cigarette burning through some carpet. The fire was out; Engine 27 and Engine 28 remained on scene to assist with smoke removal.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 27

Battalion 2: 3:08 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to the 2500 block of Briarcliff Drive, where a person had been impaled by a rake. Oak Valley Ambulance was already on scene providing care. E26 cut the rake and stabilized the remaining portion so the patient could be transferred to a gurney and transported to a local trauma center.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews completed Station 30 weekly apparatus checks and station maintenance. Engine 27 had a family stop by the station to help get an object off their son’s hand. He was very brave and got a tour of the engine in return.

Engine 28 trained on hose and master stream evolutions.

Engine 27 trained on handline construction near the Old Stockton fuel break.

TUESDAY, MAY 26

Fuel mitigation work began in the Tuolumne River Regional Park.

Battalion 2: Engine 26 participated in Jaguar Day at California Avenue School.

Quint 22 and Battalion 2 attended the Region 4 OES refresher put on by Cal OES and the Fire Warden Office.

Battalion 5: Crews completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Battalion 5 hosted a Battalion drill focused on wildland tactics & strategy and working with Cal Fire.

Engine 27 attended a pub ed event at a local daycare.

MFD members attended annual out of county refresher training put on by the Stanislaus County Fire Warden’s Office and Cal OES.
