The summer long Oakdale Farmers Market begins today, May 11, at a new location, set up for the Wednesday evening markets this year along East E Street, between First and Third avenues. Hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the market move was necessary due to the ongoing construction along North Third Avenue, its home for the last several years.
A number of vendors with products ranging from strawberries to blueberries, tomatoes to squash, stone fired pizza, handmade crafts, eggs and a variety of baked goods will return to this year’s market. The market runs May through September.
There will some new vendors as well, offering products including handmade soaps and sourdough. Organizers hope to continue expanding the selections and adding new vendors throughout the run of the market.
With the construction on North Third, volunteers will be assisting with the traffic flow to the market for parking, along with having an informational booth at the market to answer any questions.
Live music will be a regular feature as well, beginning with the Wednesday, May 18 market night, having acoustic performers in the courtyard area of the Redwood Café.
The market managers have a couple of different performers signed up to play live music during the summer but they are still in search of more acoustic performers. Those interested in sharing their talent can contact the market manager, Linda, at 209-403-5043.
