Students at both Oakdale and Riverbank high schools are in the midst of their Homecoming Week festivities, getting ready for a parade and the crowning of new royalty. Both will also cap off the week with Homecoming football games; Oakdale will host Patterson at The Corral and Riverbank will welcome Big Valley Christian to Angelo Novi Field on Friday night, Oct. 2.
Royalty has been nominated for each school.
Oakdale’s theme is “Mustangs Got Game” and Spirit Days for the week featured Jumanji on Monday, Sept. 28; Monopoly on Tuesday; Clue on Wednesday; What the Meme on Thursday; and Twister to close out the week on Friday, Oct. 2.
For Oakdale, the Homecoming King candidates are Beau Kesterson, Luke Sousa, Max Birchall, Carter Riley, and Matthew Cooley. Queen candidates are Emma Humphrey, Dakota Burford, Peyton O’Neal, Amber Franssen, and Skyler Cavanaugh.
In the running for Prince are Trent Long, Caleb Gardner, Carter Birchall, Ezekiel Meza, and Diego Cisneros. Princess hopefuls are Willa Speer, Aubrey Sibley, Ava Imura, Drew Evans, and Skyler Burford.
Friday’s Homecoming Rally will include crowning of the King and Prince and the Homecoming Parade starts at 1:25 p.m. Friday. JV football starts at 5 p.m.; varsity at 7 p.m. with the crowning of the Queen and Princess at halftime of the varsity game.
In Riverbank, the theme is “Welcome to the Bruin Games!” and Spirit Days included Bruins Bring the Memes! on Monday, Sept. 28; Bruins Gone Crazy on Tuesday; along with Welcome to the Jungle on Wednesday; Every Bruin has a Beginning … and an End, inspired by the board game Life on Thursday; rounding out with a day of wearing maroon and Riverbank gear to celebrate Bruin spirit on Friday, Oct. 2. There are also special activities each day at lunch for the high school students and the JV football game is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m., followed by the Homecoming Parade in downtown Riverbank stepping off at 6:30 p.m.
Riverbank freshman royal nominees are Hailey Ramirez, Zuri Golding, Boston Navarro, Brody Bulygo, Adrian Perez, and Emilio Jimenez.
Sophomores nominated are Bella Jimenez, Jocelyn Ruiz, Kamilah Zamora, Rudy Torrez, Elijah Torres, and Erik Sanchez.
In the running for Junior royal honors are Emily Ramirez, Samantha Silva, Ava Fuentes, Erik Guzman, Carlos Valenzuela, and Adrian Jimenez.
Finally, the Senior nominees for Queen and King are Amy Ruiz, Summer Mitre, Mia Fuentes, Aaliyah White, and Montse Loaiza Rios; also, Armando Garcia, Adrian Fernandez, Gabriel Sandoval, Daniel Orunja, and Valentino Garcia.
Friday night features both a varsity girls flag football game and the varsity football game; the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the game; all other grade levels will have their crowning at the Homecoming Dance.
