Traveling to San Jose on Saturday, September 19, forty members of the Cardozo Middle School Band from Riverbank had the exciting opportunity to participate in San Jose State University Band Day.

“Our students joined approximately 800 middle and high school band students from throughout the Bay Area to rehearse and perform alongside the San Jose State University Band,” explained Cardozo band director Joey Aguilar. “Our students had a wonderful time and returned to Cardozo excited, inspired, and proud to represent our school and the Riverbank Unified School District. The impact of the experience was also felt by our families.”

Aguilar said the experience gave the Cardozo students the opportunity to perform in a large collegiate environment, connect with other young musicians, and see firsthand where continued participation in music can take them.

“Experiences like SJSU Band Day provide our students with memories that extend far beyond the music classroom,” added Aguilar. “They allow students to experience the excitement of being part of a much larger musical community while inspiring them to continue growing as musicians.”
