Assembly Republican Leader Kristin Olsen, of Modesto, was honored as California Women Lead’s Woman of the Year during its 2016 Reception in Sacramento on Jan. 27.

“We are proud to honor Assemblymember Olsen as our Woman of the Year,” said Rachel Michelin, Executive Director of California Women Lead. “She is a tireless advocate for women, and a valuable role model for those who are interested in becoming elected or appointed officials themselves. We look forward to another great year of working alongside her to advance our important mission.”

California Women Lead’s State Board of Directors brought leaders from the political, business and government community together in Sacramento to honor Olsen, along with Governor Edmund G. Brown’s Executive Secretary Nancy McFadden, and Speaker of the Assembly Toni Atkins as recipients of the organization’s MOVER Awards: Making Our Vision of Equality a Reality.

Olsen said, “California Women Lead works hard to ensure that women have a place at the table and a deciding vote on California’s most pressing issues, and I am honored to be in a position to help champion their mission.”

Olsen is a committed and respected leader with a reputation for reform, problem-solving, and hard work. When she became Minority Leader in 2014, she became the first mother of school-aged children to have served as Leader of a Republican or Democratic caucus in the California Legislature.

She represents the 12th Assembly District in the California Legislature, which includes portions of Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties in the Central Valley.
