The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors has announced the selection of Jody Hayes as the new Chief Executive Officer for Stanislaus County.
Hayes will replace outgoing CEO Stan Risen, who is retiring after more than 30 years in public service. The new CEO will have responsibility for more than 4,400 employees and a $1.18 billion annual budget. He will officially take the helm as Chief Executive Officer on Aug. 12, 2017.
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Vito Chiesa expressed that “Jody is well respected in our organization for his leadership and dedication in the County financial management arena. He is both a strategic thinker and an effective leader who is focused on continuous improvement of our organization and the community.”
Hayes began his career in 1999 with Stanislaus County in the Probation Department. In 2004, he accepted a promotion to the Chief Executive Office as a Management Consultant, and successfully rose through the County ranks to Assistant Executive Officer in February 2014. In this role, he oversees the preparation and monitoring of the County Budget and leads the CEO Finance and Operations team which serves as the CEO liaison to the departments of the Assessor, Auditor-Controller, Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, County Counsel, District Attorney, Probation, Public Defender, Sheriff and Treasurer/Tax Collector. His CEO responsibilities also include the Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJIS), Stanislaus Family Justice Center, Grand Jury, Law Library, Stanislaus Regional 911 and StanCERA.
The selection of Hayes is the result of a national executive recruitment which was conducted using in-house staff.
