Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 10.19.22

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Oct. 11 through Monday, Oct. 17. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 12

E26 and E21 attended Quarterly EMS training. E26 participated in California Ave School’s walk to school day. Truck 5 assisted the Oakdale High School Fire Science Class.

6:00 p.m. - Engine 28, Engine/WT 27, Engine 29 and BC5 responded to a potential structure for a report of smoke on the interior of a residence. Engine 28 arrived to find nothing from the exterior and began to investigate. Crews were able to isolate the issue to a malfunctioning HVAC unit.

 

THURSDAY, OCT. 13

Engine and Brush 23 trained on task book sign-offs. Engine 29 provided a station tour for the Knights Ferry Elementary School.

 

FRIDAY, OCT. 14

E24 was invited to Roberts Ferry School for a fire prevention demonstration.

 

SATURDAY, OCT. 15

Crews spent the day focused on Engine and station Maintenance. Training was conducted at the Engine co level. E27 trained with companies at ST.17 on probationary skills. Crews worked on hoseline pulls and salvage operations. E28 and BC5 attended a community event hosted by the Pacific Project Hero’s honoring first responders and veterans. The fundraiser was to bring awareness to first responder service throughout the communities and for local veterans and their service.

5:55 a.m. - Modesto E28, E27 and BC5 responded to a solo vehicle overturned with one occupant trapped. E28 arrived on scene and was able to quickly extricate the driver. OPD was on scene investigating the crash. E27 secured a sheared hydrant after the patient was cared for.

SUNDAY, OCT. 16

E22, E26, E27 and BC2 toured the Areiz facility at 2905 Santa Fe St.

2:25 p.m. - E26 responded to 2807 Deep River in Riverbank. They were requested to assist in moving a patient from their bed so the family could transfer the patient to a hospital bed. Not only did E26 help with the movement but they stuck around and assisted with putting the new bed together. Excellent work E26!

Brush 28,29,23, and battalion 5 responded for the report of a vegetation fire at Rodden lake. On scene we had 3 Acres of grass burning surrounded by roads on all sides. Brush 28 monitored the fire as it burned out. All other resources were cancelled.
