Con Agra Foods, a long time major employer in Oakdale, recently donated $15,000 to the City of Oakdale for a gazebo to shade the bandstand in Dorada Park.
A dedication ceremony was offered June 26, where Oakdale Mayor Farrell Jackson, with assistance from Con Agra plant manager Ed Harmon and operations manager Tim Hauser, cut a ribbon to signify the event.
Dorada Park is the location of the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce’s popular Concerts in the Park series, which kicks off its 19th year on July 17.
Before and after the ribbon cutting, Jackson’s band, JMZ, entertained the crowd.
Jackson pointed out that a large tree that shaded the bandstand toppled a few years ago, predicting the new gazebo will be instantly popular with both band members and concertgoers.
Jackson also thanked Con Agra for their generosity and community involvement.
