Oakdale Men Identified
Sheriff

Two Oakdale men have been identified as the victims found on property in the 5900 block of Claribel Road, off Langworth, on the outskirts of Riverbank on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department officials released the names of the men on Friday. They were identified as Alfredo Mercado Lomeli, 32, of Oakdale and Martin Alvarez Jr., 24, of Oakdale.

Authorities are not releasing much information since it is an ongoing investigation. Spokesman Deputy Royjindar Singh said a subject stopped at the Riverbank Police Services substation on Thursday to report the discovery of a body near a barn on the Claribel Road property. When authorities arrived on scene, they also discovered another victim.

“How they died we are not releasing yet,” noted Singh.

A marijuana grow was discovered on site as well, however, authorities would not confirm whether the men’s deaths may have been connected to the grow.

“There have been no suspects identified,” Singh added.

He said anyone that may be able to offer information is asked to contact lead detective Marissa Wyatt at 209-525-7091.
