The mountain lion has been sighted again! Don Diltz on Grape Arbor spotted the cat coming from the Cemetery and running full speed behind Jeff’s property and down to the irrigation ditch where it disappeared in the tall reeds. Keep your eyes open!

Congratulations go out to Hannah Holland on her softball team’s victory. Hannah plays A ball, 12 and under R and R Gold. They won all four games (Hannah got 3 hits) to win the N.S.A. State Championship. Way to go!

Beverly Brunker got the scare of her life when she got up in the middle of the night and heard that chilling sound; a rattlesnake was in her bedroom! It was against the wall so Bob shooed it outside with something that Beverly didn’t see, and it zipped off. The way that Beverly thinks it got in was when she took the garbage out and left the kitchen door open. It was a good size snake. Keep those doors closed!

Gary and Barbara Shook have returned from Las Vegas where they visited with their son and his family and then went to Glendora to visit their daughter and her family. They came home with granddaughter Sydney Shook. Sydney enjoyed dinner at the 50’s Roadhouse and Barbara was the recipient of the Birthday song.

Vacation Bible School attracted 50 children and 30 volunteers last week. The theme was Wildwood Forest. The children did crafts, learned their lessons, and learned songs (which they sang in church Sunday). This year they collected money for the Heifer Project. Gwyn Davis reported at church Sunday they had collected $376.30.

Congratulations Oakdale Leader on being recognized by the National Newspaper Association as the Best Living/Family Section for 2008! They compare newspapers of comparable circulation and Oakdale won!

A night of dinner and entertainment is being planned by the Odd Fellows. It is Cowboy Up for Hospice. It will be Saturday, August 8th, 2009 starting at 5:00 p.m. Country music will be by Rich Price; Bluegrass music will be by Fred Stepp and the Stepp Kids, Cowboy poetry will be by Dylan Marchetti, Ed Brown, Christina Kistler, Tom Gookin and others. Tickets are by presale only at $20.00 each. Call Fred at 881-0440. A portion of the proceeds will go to Community Hospice.

Even though the TANC power line project seems dead, keep expressing your opinions (July 30th deadline). Part of the project is under the Western Area Power Administration (Oakdale to Melones) so write to Davis Young, N.E.P.A. Document Manager, 144 Park Shore Drive, Folsom, CA 95630, just in case it is not totally dead!

Condolences go out to Patti Albarico on the death of her mom, Flo, and to Linda Cassinetto on the death of her mom, Gloria Gardella. Gloria’s mass will be Friday, July 24th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora.

The Knights Ferry Community Club’s August meeting will be a DINNER meeting (note change) on August 6th at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. The speaker will be Stanislaus County Supervisor Bill O’Brien. Come enjoy a good potluck and listen to the state of the County.
