At Public School’s Night, the Masons announced the winners of the essay contest. The students wrote on why the Masons were involved in Public Schools. First Place winners received a check for $50.00. They were 6th grade- Braden Sousa, 7th grade- Alyssa Sisco and 8th grade- Julia Nilsson. Second Place winners received a check for $25.00. They were 6th Grade-Mikali Willis, 7th Grade- Kaeli Sweet and 8th Grade- Clay Heffington. Third Place winners received a check for $25.00. They were 6th Grade- Ivan Garcia, 7th Grade- Austin Santillo and 8th Grade- Aleesha Harden. Congratulations to you!

Barbara and Lynn Burroughs have daughter-in-law Justina and grandson Neal visiting from Seoul, Korea, where Major Rett Burroughs is stationed. They are visiting for a few weeks and then going to Justina’s folks to visit.

The Third/Fourth Grade class went down to Miller’s Hall to present the History and Museum Association with planters made from old redwood siding from Miller’s Hall.

Former Knights Ferry residents Ed and Myrna Jergentz are celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary. Congratulations!

Easter Sunrise Service will be at 6:10 a.m. on Frymire Hill.

Pastor Tanis will do the service.

At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting there was no report from the closed session. On the discussion items Kindergarten teacher Melissa Holcomb brought up Kindergarten graduation and the fact that she would like to see the kinders receive their Certificate of Accomplishment at a different time from the 8th Graders. Also discussed was the first reading of the Board Policies and the need to replace the lawn mower. Action items included the Appreciation Week for the Classified and Certificated employees.

Condolences go out to Carol Davis and family and Ken Morris and family on the death of Mary Morris. Mary was 105 years and mother-in-law to Carol and mom to Ken. She had 38 great-grandchildren! Services were on April 15th.

Gary Shook was the recipient of the “Birthday Song” at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday.

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer enjoyed dinner with son Jeff and his wife Lisa and grandchildren Wyatt and Sterling, granddaughter Joselyn and her husband Tony Serrano and great-granddaughter Millie, and daughter Patti and her husband Andy Sandoval. Jeff and family were in town as Jeff was the Arena Director for the Oakdale Rodeo.

Good to see former Knights Ferry resident Chris Alexander. She used to run the 50’s Roadhouse before she moved to Southern California. She is in town for Easter.
