On July 26, 2022, Mr. Lee Shearer passed away peacefully at home in the company of his loved ones including wife, Mary Sue Shearer. Mr. Shearer was 91 years old and was married to Mary Sue for 43 years.
For as long as I can remember, Mr. Lee Shearer has been a staple in Knights Ferry. I remember him announcing names and making announcements at the Pumpkin Roll, strolling the streets of Knights Ferry with Mrs. Mary Sue Shearer with groups of school children sharing the history of town, and of course, doing his part keeping the children (and sometimes adults) in line. As I got older, I could see he sat as an officer on many of the town clubs and committees in town and he held his unofficial but official title of Mayor of Knights Ferry. He did so much around town that it would be impossible for me to share it in this tiny article!
The Shearer family will hold a ‘Shearer Send-Off Shindig’ on September 10th with more details to follow.

Knights Ferry School’s first day of school is August 4th. If your children attend school in Knights Ferry, please try to leave a few minutes early and drive safely through town. The town locals appreciate the families who drive safely through town when they drop off and pick up their children from school! Other than the bit of traffic at morning drop-off and pick-up, I enjoy having the children back in school.

The Knights Ferry Post Office is looking for a volunteer to help in the Post Office one to two days per week. The Post Office is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30am-4:30pm with the days to volunteer negotiable.
