Knights Ferry News 4-9-25

The Knights Ferry Classic Car Show filled the streets and every parking space available on Main Street last Saturday! There were unique cars and trucks on display and the judges had some tough decisions to make when they were choosing the winners. Some cars had original and difficult to find pieces that only the car enthusiast would know to look for such as a “split window”. I don’t really know a lot about cars but I enjoyed walking around looking at the cars and listening to the owners talk about the work they put into each detail. The Car Show committee gave away award plaques. A few of them were “Favorite Corvette”, “Favorite Ford”, “Judges Favorite”, “Most Unique Rat Rod”, and “Friday Night Date Ride”! I believe the “Most Unique Rat Rod” was presented to a car named “Elvira”. She was black, an open motor, and had metal cobwebs on the backside windows. The Knights Ferry businesses enjoyed the extra foot traffic! The Knights Ferry Art Studio invited a new artist into the space, the Knights Ferry Museum was open, and of course everyone had plenty to eat and drink on Main Street!

Later in the evening, the Knights Ferry Art studio hosted a full figure drawing event in the outdoor area of the Saloon. They had live music and a fire pit to enjoy while the group drew a live model!

The Free Market is a program that practices the art of giving and receiving to provide food boxes for 20 households such as banana bread, cabbage, and jars of honey. The Knights Ferry Seed Exchange is on April 13th from 10am-3pm at the Odd Fellows Lodge. Bring seeds you have to share with others and take home some seeds from other gardeners to grow in your garden too. The ARK (Acts of Restorative Kindness) focuses on restoring the local environment through art, education, and application. They are working to rebuild the native soil and ecology. The last Sunday of every month, they pick up trash around town and then head to the Art Studio to work on a featured art class/workshop. If you are interested in donating to the free market, participating in the Seed Exchange, or want to help with ARK, email knightsferryfreemarket@gmail.com to get more information.
