Knights Ferry News 4-10-24

The weather was beautiful in Knights Ferry during the Car Show last Saturday! The Community Club met the maximum number of entries of 150 cars and trucks. The cars and trucks lined up at check-in before sunrise to get their spot. I observed some of the participants setting up lawn chairs, setting out albums of their car’s restoration, and using special towels to get any debris or water spots off their car. Some of my favorite cars had hand pinstripe details, colorful interior, and some even had fuzzy dice hanging! Hayden Sundberg entered his 1977 Ford F-250 Ranger with a classic Meyers snow plow that he purchased from his grandfather. Sundberg’s grandfather purchased the truck with only 7900 miles in 1978 because it was previously repo’ed. While his grandfather owned it, he worked at the Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown where he had the prisoners repaint the truck from blue and silver to blue and white because that was the only paint they had at the time! My personal favorite car of the show was a black Ford Mach 1. It had black skulls strategically placed near the engine and if you pressed a button, the skulls would move and say funny phrases! Community Club President, Chris Peterson awarded Dave Rorabaugh with the GSD award, a special award that is presented to a person who has made an impact on the community. Shelli Borba and Dara Patton set up a successful raffle with great items as they always do. I have personally seen their magic when setting up a raffle/silent auction fundraiser! They are gifted! Thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to put on a great Car Show!

Last weekend, Katie Conde hit her first home run of her softball season at Rainbow Fields playing with her 14U California Grapettes team. Katie pitches, and plays first base, and right fielder when she isn’t hitting home runs for her team. Congratulations, Katie!
