At the Community Club’s monthly meeting, Modesto City Fire Battalion Chief, Ryan Winton gave a presentation for a proposed fuels reductions project sponsored by the East Stanislaus Fire Safe Council. The project is directed toward cutting, thinning, and chipping the brush and fallen tree limbs mainly near the exit road of the school and up Cemetery Road. The project would decrease the amount of fuel for potential fires that could spread quickly toward the school into town. Battalion Chief Winton is applying for a grant for the proposed fuels reduction project and looked to the community for support and approval. The Community Club presented Battalion Chief Winton with a letter of support to submit with the grant application.
