Knights Ferry was shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Patti Ulrich, mother of Jason Ulrich, sister of Kathy Mangante and Eric Ulrich. Her services are Thursday, April 15th at 10 a.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, gravesite at Oak Grove Cemetery, Knights Ferry, with reception to follow at the River’s Edge. Patti was a long time Knights Ferry resident.

Megan Miller, granddaughter of Dave and Laura Simons, would like to thank the Odd Fellows Lodge for letting her sell Girl Scout cookies at the breakfast. She would also like to thank all who purchased cookies as she reached her goal of 21 hundred boxes! Way to go, Megan!

Welcome to the world Savanna Aigean McCarthy, born to Kim and Sean on April 1st. She weighed in at 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. Proud Knights Ferry grandparents are Jim and Sherron McCarthy. Welcoming Savanna home were big sister River and brother Tristan.

Barbara Burroughs reported in after 3 months in Ohio caring for her dying father. She said it was hard, but he got to die at his home. Big news is that Rhett was promoted to Major! Barb and Lynn and Megan and Jay attended the ceremony in Spokane, Washington and it was very moving. Major Burroughs and wife Justina will be going to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas where he will get another Masters Degree. Barb said she has given up her “Superwoman” cape as she fell from a ladder while washing windows before company came and broke her arm!

Benny Cassinetto had heart bypass surgery and is home recovering. He joins the “zipper club” of Ferry residents who have had similar surgery.

There has already been a swift water rescue on the Stanislaus River near Knights Ferry. The Russian Rapids overturned a kayak and another kayak with young children narrowly escaped. All were rescued. Please be careful this time of year, the river is cold and dangerous.

Gayle and Don Diltz and Lee and Mary Sue Shearer with granddaughter Gwyn Davis and friend Rhiannon Henthorn, joined other Oakdale Model A Club members and rode in the Rodeo Parade. There were 17 Model A’s in the parade! Afterwards all journeyed to the 50’s Roadhouse for lunch.

Bill Higgens is recovering from heart bypass surgery, another “zipper clubber.” Hurry and get better!
