At the meeting of the Knights Ferry School Board it was noted that the custodian/maintenance person, Lynn Duckworth, would be out because she fell off a ladder and is in a wheelchair. All hope she recovers soon. She was up at school in her chair overseeing the back to school maintenance. Christina Chan talked about school growth and development. The school will start with an enrollment of 115: 20 in Kindergarten, 26 in First/Second, 21 in Third/Fourth, 23 in Fifth/ Sixth and 24 in Seventh/Eighth. The Board approved the bid to renovate the lower playground, new chips etc. New teachers are Samantha Travao in third/fourth and Jenny Kelley in fifth/sixth. New Parent/Teacher officers are Sara Sundberg-treasurer, Corrine Anderson-secretary, no vice president and three presidents-Jolene O’Neil, Sonya Conde and Kim McCarthy.

Back to School Night, August 24th will have a big presentation - a check for $25,000 from a grant from Monsanto for robotics. Dr. J wrote the grant and it was accepted. Dignitaries will be there and examples of robotics for parents to see. It starts at 5:30p.m.

For those inclined to float the river, please be careful. The river rescue team has been out lately looking for missing floaters. A good idea is to have a cell phone to call if in trouble or if you’re going to be late to your arrival station.

Drivers need to be careful now that school in session. Also bicyclists are still on the roads so slow down and be watchful.

Lisa Frymire is enjoying her new job as Vice Principal at Catherine Everett School in Modesto. She is glad to be back interacting with students.
