Knights Ferry News 11-10-21
Nastasia Sweet

The weekend was absolutely beautiful in Knights Ferry. The 58th Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll was welcomed with crisp fall weather and a pleasant crowd. The Community Club had a variety of craft vendors including fudge, hand embroidery towels, authors featuring their own work, candles, and custom cups. After wandering the booths, it was apparent that a lot of the booths were manned by local people! Knights Ferry sure has some talented people. Thank you to the community members who stepped up to put on the Pumpkin Roll this year. The Pumpkin Roll crew was headed by Tracy Griesner who gathered volunteers to get pumpkins, measure the winning rolls, and ordered the trophies. Will Haskell-Kelly did a fantastic job announcing the contestants and the winners! He did a great job cracking jokes and even managed to pronounce most of the contestant’s names correctly. The Orange Blossom 4H had a small petting zoo, the Rainbow Girls sold baked potatoes, and the Knights Ferry Junior High Class sold pizza.

The 2021 Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll Champions were: 0-5 Boy and Girl, Logan Burtschi and Kinsley Simons; Seniors Men and Women, Rodger Ozbirn and Grace Rusconi; 6-12 Boys and Girls, Travis Meyers and Chloe Henson; 13-18 Boys and Girls, David Wood and Dakota Voortman; Adult Men and Women, Jerry Ferfes and Bethany Basmajian. Congratulations to the Pumpkin Roll Champions!

The Community is planning to host their annual Community Christmas dinner on December 2 at 6pm. Mark your calendars to join in the fun. The Club will prepare the turkey, ham, rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy and they ask that the attending families bring a dish to share either a side dish or a dessert. If you’re not sure what to bring: if your last name begins with a letter between A-M, bring a side dish and if your last name begins with a letter between N-Z, bring a dessert! There will be holiday music and community fellowship to begin the holiday excitement. Everyone is invited!
