Knights Ferry News 10-16-19

If you have noticed Knights Ferry students running around with a blue tint to their hair or skin, it is because they had their annual jogathon-color run fundraiser last week. A color run is when the kids run through dyed cornstarch powder for a burst of color on their shirts, face, hair, etc. It was all smiles and fun as the Bobcats raised money for the school. The families of Knights Ferry School fundraised over $18,000 before expenses exceeding their goal of $12,000 for the grand prize incentive. The school will have a BMX assembly where professional BMX riders promote anti-bullying and being a positive influence in our community. Great job, Bobcats! Stay tuned for next week to learn the winners for each grade.

PG&E initiated their Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and shut power down in Knights Ferry for about five hours. We were preparing for multiple days without power due to the warnings our area had received. Knights Ferry School decided to make Wednesday a minimum day and cancel school on Thursday. Before the power was out, people filled their bathtubs with water, filled their gas tanks, and prepared generators. We were lucky to only be without power for a few hours because our neighbors up the hill were without power for a few days!
