A brand new event called Family Fun Fest is being put together by the City of Oakdale to kick off summer and the opening celebration of the Royse Memorial Pool.

On Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the city’s Dorada Park will be set up to provide a day of fun for families while offering free admission to the pool all day.

“We are striving for a kid-focused family fun event to kick off the summer,” City Recreation Services Specialist Alanna Bryant stated.

There will be food and drinks along with live music from a ukulele band.

The local library will also have staff attending to offer some storytelling sessions and educate youngsters about the importance of reading.

Face painting will be offered along with lessons on bike safety and water safety.

Dorada Park, commonly known as the Children’s Play Park, is adjacent to the pool, also known as ‘The Plunge.’
