The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a heat advisory, in effect through 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, with extremely high temperatures forecast.

Affected area includes the Sacramento Valley, Delta, northern San Joaquin Valley, and Sierra foothills.

Temperatures of 102 to 108 are expected, with widespread Moderate Heat Risk and areas of Major Heat Risk today.

Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially for those more sensitive to heat.

Hottest temperatures are expected in the northern Sacramento Valley, with very limited cooling during the evening and nighttime hours.

Residents are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Temperatures topping out over 100 degrees are forecast for the next several days.
