Gallo Center

The Gallo Center for the Arts has announced its 2022-23 season, which marks the 15th anniversary of the performing arts venue and the first season curated by chief executive officer Chad Hilligus. Advance ticket sales began May 16 for Gallo Center donors. Tickets go on sale to the public on June 6.

“Thanks to our incredible patrons and the outpouring of generosity from our dedicated donor family, the Gallo Center for the Arts is stronger than ever as we unveil the new season,” said Hilligus. “And we are ready to celebrate our 15th anniversary in style. “The new season represents the very best of the last fifteen years as well as a long list of shows and artists making their Gallo Center debuts.”

They include the Broadway smash hit, “The Book of Mormon,” ‘original Jersey boy’ Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, pop rock icon Belinda Carlisle, and the classical hip-hop duo Black Violin, among many others.

Ticket sales for the public start Monday, June 6, at 10 am. Tickets will be available online at GalloArts.org, by calling (209) 338-2100, or at the ticket office, 1000 I St., in downtown Modesto.

The Gallo Center prioritizes its valued donor family as ticket sales begin. May 16 – 22 is set aside for the organization’s founders, Center Circles members, corporate patrons and sponsors; May 23 – 25 for Friends and Amigos of the Center at the $750 and up annual giving level; May 26 – 30 for Friends and Amigos at $300 and up; May 31 – June 1 for Friends and Amigos at $150 and up, and June 2 – 5 for Friends and Amigos at $75 and up.

A season brochure will be mailed in phases during May and June to 240,000 households regionally. The full 2022-23 season line-up was announced May 16 on the Gallo Center website at GalloArts.org, including a digital version of the new season brochure.

The season will open in September with two performances of another Broadway show, the classic “Cats.” It is an all-new production that will use the Gallo Center for technical preparations and rehearsals before it goes out on a national tour.

“This is a first for us,” said Hilligus, “and our audiences will be the first to see it.”

Other Broadway tours coming to the Center in 2022-23 are Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5 The Musical,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Anastasia,” and a new musical based on the story and music of Gloria and Emilio Estefan, “On Your Feet.”

Among returning Gallo Center favorites are violinist Itzhak Perlman; Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth; comedians George Lopez and Jay Leno; jazz trumpeter Chris Botti; pop artists including Brian McKnight and Johnny Mathis; Christian music’s Amy Grant and Sandi Patty, and rock groups Three Dog Night and REO Speedwagon. Latino artists to appear include pop star Ana Barbara with special guest Luis Coronel, the ‘Queen of Mariachi’ Aida Cuevas and Los Angeles-based Latin hybrid rock group La Santa Cecilia.

Hilligus indicated that the Center has booked its usual strong variety of family programming, and also has planned more dance, jazz and world music performances than in past seasons.

“The dance, jazz and world music offerings are especially robust and eclectic, with both established and emerging artists we’re confident will really wow Gallo Center audiences,” he said.
