The Oakdale Leader has partnered with the Oakdale Parks and Recreation Department in an effort to better serve the community and make community members aware of ongoing activities. The Leader will post upcoming events and activities hosted by Parks and Rec, as well as the Senior Center. This will be an ongoing submission, which will appear in the paper on the last Wednesday of each month.

Commission meetings are open to the public and community members are encouraged to attend.

 

Thursday July 1st- Learn to Line Dance $25.00 for a 6 week course. Classes are every Thursday at the Gene Bianchi Community Center.

Friday July 2nd- Deadline to register Youth Soccer Clinic, Tennis Clinic, Swim Lessons session 3 and Tumbling session 3

Friday July 2nd- Tiny- Tots Early Development class begins only $100 per session. Tai Chi classes begin only $42 per month. Relaxation Yoga classes begin only $40 per session.

Saturday July 3rd- the City of Oakdale is proud to offer our newest program, Movies Under the Stars. An open air cinema will be set up in Cottles Woods Park (Ventanas and J Street); bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a free showing of  our monthly movie, the movie will begin at dusk. We will be showing R.V. sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Oakdale.

Monday July 5th- Ballet/Tap Xplosion- begins only $80.00, Swim lesson session 3 begins and Tennis session 2 begins.

Friday July 9th- Tumbling class begins.

Tuesday July 13th- Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting, 4:30 p.m. Council Chambers, 277 North Second Ave.

Wednesday July 14th- Youth Advisory Commission Meeting, 6:00 p.m. Council Chambers, 277 North Second Ave.

Tuesday July 13th- Mask Making and Sculpture-Youth Art Class begins only $75.00.

Saturday July 17th- the City of Oakdale will host Movies Under the Stars. We will be showing The Cowboys sponsored by Oakdale Cowboy Museum.

Tuesday July 20th- Watercolors and Collage-Youth Art Class begins only $75.00.

Tuesday July 20th- Ice Cream Social and Community Band Concert, 5:30 p.m. Gladys Lemmons Senior Community Center, 450 East A St. Cost $5; tickets available at the hospitality desk.

The Quilting Class at the Senior Center will be raffling off a hand made queen size quilt on Tuesday July 20th, 2010 at the Community Band Concert Ice Cream Social. Tickets for the raffle are available at the hospitality desk at the Senior Center $1.00 = 1 ticket, $5.00 = 6 tickets.  All proceeds will be going to help support the Senior Center.
