Army Pvt. Colton P. Protine Graduated From Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma

Army Pvt. Colton P. Protine, son of Jeffrey P. and Paula (Findlay) Protine of Oakdale, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

He is the grandson of the late Barnard and Edith Protine of Colusa, CA and the late JoBell Findlay of Oakdale. His sister is Jennifer Sandoval of Oakdale and his aunt and uncle are Barbara and Jim Findlay of Oakdale. His grandfather Barnard Protine served as a ball gunner in WWII and the Korean Conflict.

Protine graduated in 2010 from Oakdale High School, and his mother was a 1979 OHS grad.

He is currently stationed in Virginia.
