Softball Girls Shine On Senior Day

Following a 14-0 road win over Weston Ranch on Tuesday, April 16, the Lady Mustang varsity softball girls blanked Manteca 4-0 in their final home game of the season.

In the road win against Weston Ranch (5-12, 1-8) Oakdale (17-0-1, 10-0) racked up a dozen hits as a team including two each from Rylie Goodridge, Emily Smith and Mariyn Waterman. Cortney Koelmans and Waterman combined for a one hitter from the circle and struck out a total of a dozen batters. Earlier in the season the girls defeated Weston Ranch 23-0.

On Thursday, April 18 the girls hosted Manteca (7-8, 4-4) for Senior Day 2019. Emily Smith, Brittany Bye and Lexi Webb were all honored by their friends, family and fans.

“I still cannot believe this day is here. I’ve been waiting for this day, but it’s hard to believe that this day has come,” said Smith.

In the game Smith went 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI. Bye went 1-for-3 in the game, connecting on a triple.

“It’s an emotional day for all of us,” agreed Bye.

Webb went 1-for-2 with an RBI. She also pitched a complete game giving up just two hits and striking out 13.

“I wanted to come out here and just pitch a great game to help my team out. I really didn’t feel any other pressure because it is senior day,” said Webb.

The Lady Mustangs return to action on Tuesday, April 30 at Rainbow Fields to take on Central Catholic (1-13, 1-8) and wrap up the regular season at East Union (5-12, 1-8) on Thursday, May 2.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

The JV girls defeated Sierra on the road 18-0 on Monday, April 15. This was a makeup game from earlier in the season. In the contest Katie Silva pitched a two hitter with eight strikeouts. Amanda Bricker went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, including a pair of doubles, a triple and a home run. Abby Cogburn added three RBI. On Thursday, April 18 Silva pitched a perfect game against Manteca in the team’s 14-0 home win. Bailey Hardy had two hits and a pair of RBI. Oakdale will finish out the season against East Union on Thursday, May 2.
