Softball girls capture twin wins to start league

The highly anticipated 2024 Valley Oak League season arrived for the Oakdale High School softball team this past week. Oakdale battled Sierra and East Union to open the regular season.

On Tuesday, March 26 Oakdale hosted Sierra and made short work of the Timberwolves, winning 13-0 in four innings. Oakdale scored in all four innings, including a six run third inning.

Raegen Everett helped power Oakdale with a three-run home run. Oakdale had a total of 10 hits. Briley Everett, Jaelyn Lee and Audrey Romiti each had two hits. Raegen Everett earned the win in the circle as she pitched two perfect innings and struck out six. Lee pitched the first three innings, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out a half dozen.

Thursday afternoon, Oakdale traveled to East Union and defeated the Lancers 12-1 in five innings. East Union had seven errors in the March 28 loss. Presley Barnes hit a home run for Oakdale; Lee led the team with three RBI on a pair of hits. Also having multiple hits for Oakdale were Jayci Volonte, Romiti and Barnes.

Raegen Everett pitched a complete game striking out 10 batters, walking two, and giving up just two hits.

On Saturday, March 30 Oakdale competed in a tournament and went 3-0, defeating Monterey Trail 10-0, Kennedy 10-0 and Big Valley Christian High School 1-0. Oakdale returns to Valley Oak League play on April 9 when they host Kimball at 4 p.m.
