Softball Awards Presented At Lady Mustangs Banquet

On Friday, May 17 the Oakdale High School softball program honored their players with the presentation of the end of the year awards. Over 150 gathered inside the Gene Bianchi Community Center for the festivities. Prior to the ceremony the Oakdale Fillies (Oakdale’s U12 softball team) prepared and served the teams and guests a chicken and tri-tip dinner.

Following dinner, freshman head coach Rick Tussing presented four awards. Taking home the Offensive Player of the Year Award was Alexia Martin. Macie Gregory earned the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Glory Garvin won the Most Improved Player Award and Rylee Danhoff received the Coaches Award.

Junior varsity coaches Jaime Smith and Rod Long presented four players with awards. Amanda Bricker won Offensive Player of the Year. Sophia Ortiz won Defensive Player of the Year, Bailey Hardey earned the Coaches Award and Abby Cogburn won the Most Improved Player of the Year.

Varsity head coach Larry Loger and assistants Mike Bye and Trent Merzon took to the podium to honor their team. The 2019 Valley Oak League champions gave out four awards to five recipients. Lexie Webb won Offensive Player of the Year. Brittany Bye claimed the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Emily Smith won the Coaches Award. Two players were named Co-Most Improved, Rilyn Cassaretto and Mariyn Waterman.
