Playing their way through a remarkable season, the Oakdale High School girls golf team has plenty of reason to smile.

Following an unbeaten Valley Oak League campaign, capturing the VOL Championship, the girls then turned their attention to a broader stage: the 2018 CIF Division III Section Championship and the Masters.

On Monday, Oct. 22 the team packed up their clubs and went to Rancho Del Rey Golf Course in Atwater to take on the best in the Sac-Joaquin Section. Much like they have all of 2018, Oakdale dominated the competition by taking first place by 48 strokes. As a team Oakdale shot 403 on the day through 18 holes, and second place Vista del Lago came in at 451. Both teams advanced to the CIF-Sac Joaquin Section Masters.

The Masters were held on Monday, Oct. 29 where Oakdale placed third overall and will now advance to the NorCal Championships.

In the Section Tournament, Madison Blanc shot a 76, the second best score overall, just behind Jalyn Robison of Wood High School (75). The Lady Mustangs sent six golfers to the tournament and they all shot under 94 on the day. Andrea York turned in a nice afternoon as she shot an 80 on the day. One stroke behind her was Tori Blanc at 81. Senior Taylor Stewart was not far off her teammates as she turned in a scorecard of 82. Makayla Christiansen finished her day by shooting an 84 and Shealyn Hanrahan completed the Lady Mustangs afternoon and championship run by shooting 93.

At the Masters, the girls shot a team score of 454. Madison Blanc continued to have a big postseason as she shot a team leading 86 on the day. Stewart kept it under 90 with an 89 for Oakdale. Tori Blanc (90), Christiansen (93), Hanrahan (96) and York (98) rounded out the evening for Oakdale.

With their third place finish, Oakdale has advanced to the CIF NorCal Championship. The tournament will be held Monday, Nov. 5 at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club in Lodi.
