Members of the Oakdale High School girls golf team played in the Valley Oak League #2 18-hole tournament on Oct. 13. They came away with a first place finish.

The tournament was hosted by Sierra and played at Manteca Park Golf Course.

“The weather was nearly perfect for our match in Manteca,” said coach Lee McGhee. “We had a slight breeze in the afternoon but overall it was a great day for a golf tournament. Kaylie Parola was our lowest score of the day, which was the lowest score for the whole tournament.”

Parola came in with a 78 to claim medalist honors.

“She played really well on the day and has been working really hard to improve and lower her scores, as have all of our players,” noted McGhee. “We are hoping that all the hard work our team has put in this year will set them up for success in our tournaments as we push toward the playoffs. With our 6-0 record in the 9-hole matches this season and the first place finishes in the two tournaments we have qualified for playoffs as a team.”

At the VOL #2, Oakdale was the first place team with a score of 445. They were followed by Kimball, second, 557; Sierra, third, 6098; Manteca, fourth, 633.

Individual results showed Parola with the lowest score of the day at 78 for overall first place honors. Also in the top 10 were Hannah Herschbach, fifth, 84; Tori Blanc, sixth, 86; Meghan McCluney, seventh, 96; Xcaret Duque, ninth, 101; and Alivia Antinetti, 16th, 124.

The girls were scheduled to play in the VOL Championships at Micke Grove Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 19 after The Leader went to press. Look for results of that competition in the Oct. 27 issue.
